03.2008 - Vital Hydro Ltda. - a new hydropower venture in Brazil

Those who thought that Vital Planet is only about Vital Diesel will be interested to know that the company is coordinating a series of other outstanding projects in the area of alternative energy solutions. Hydropower is widely known to be one of the most sustainable ways to generate much needed energy in emerging countries.

Vital Planet has a 90% participation in the share capital of this new subsidiary, which is established in cooperation with a group of specialists who have a track record on the successful implementation of small to medium sized hydropower plants. From the start this company has access to concessions for the construction of eight power plants with a total capacity of 130 MWatt and a pipeline with additional projects of 1 GWatt.

This expansion adds considerable value in market capitalization as well as to our portfolio of alternative energy solutions. Conventional, proven technology is used in order to bring a healthy balance to the overall group risk profile, while accommodating the requirements of the financial markets. We expect to further boost shareholder value by adding other alternative energy projects which will generate secured, calculated revenues.
