Vital Planet has a similar approach upstream in the supply chain, in agricultural development, as the company is deeply involved in gathering know-how and expertise from leaders in the field of highly sustainable, bio (organic) agriculture. This has now started to be used in outsourcing feedstock production to cooperative farmers in Brazil, being the first step in the direction of combining feedstock production in organic farming and developing soils at large scale, which are presently considered to be waste land. This agricultural strategy is developed in cooperation with the major players in specific ecosystems and countries.

This development will result in a 'certified sustainable feedstock' label, designed to contribute to improving the energy balance of farms combining feedstock and food in a synergetic system.
