05.2009 - SunCoal pilot in Serbia

Vital Planet Balkan has incorporated subsidiary under the name Vital SunCoal (to become part of Vital Fuels NV) which on its term has acquired a 32 ha estate near Oresac, with the “Profil” mine on it. The mine has a 420 meters deep shaft which will serve as a plant for ‘deep-shaft-carbonization', turning biomass into SunCoal. The process is simple and promising. The project which will be developed on site is an international collaboration of Max Planck Institute, Fraunhofer Institute, Vital Source SA, Vital Planet and a large, recently privatized local engineering company. SunCoal, in particular unique ‘deep-shaft-carbonization', is one of the most promising innovations from the recent years in the field of renewable energy designed to compensate CO2-emissions and production of clean energy through hydrothermal carbonization of biomass.
